Adam Kingsley reigns as the young prince of Manhattan. Everything he touches turns to gold, making him the envy of Wall Street. Women swoon at his feet, money falls out of his pockets, and his killer good looks are as wicked as sin. A dangerous trifecta.
What more could a thirty-two-year-old man wish for? Maybe that his life never changes and his past stays far away? Sounds reasonable, but life seldom is.
Kathryn Delcour is a beautiful and alluring socialite with unique erotic tastes. When she suddenly appears on the New York City social scene, Adam finds her too tempting to resist. He has to have her, but she is warned to stay away from him and his player ways. She tries her hardest to keep him at arm's length, but Kathryn's arms may not be strong enough to hold Adam at bay.
Hidden secrets, Kathryn's passion for an ancient sexual practice, and a former business partner wanting to inflict a deadly revenge set the scene for a wild ride as Adam tells the story in his own words.
~~~~~
I found this story to by very intriguing. The male point of view was new for me. I really enjoyed it. I will look for more story lines in this style.
Adam came off as a real jerk even from is own point of view. I didn’t care if he found love or romance. His escapes at the beginning certainly lived up to his bad boy reputation. He had some serious demons to work through. Although it all came pretty fast, it was a great story line and really held my interest.
The fact that Kathryn is the one who has the erotic tastes in this relationship was a nice change of pace to the usual boy millionaire with kinky tendencies. The fact she didn’t spend the whole book blushing at his sexual advances was amazing. She was sophisticated and sexy and an equal in the relationship.
I would have loved to know more about the practice of Tantra. In comparison to the many books out there that explore other sexual practices did not give enough in detail. We only got a little glimpse of it. It was a new concept and was hoping to see more. What I did was hot and sensual and would love to see in future books.
Adam changed his bad boy behavior way to fast, literally overnight and with no slips ups. Kathryn was so trusting. Considering how smart she was I thought she should have been more cautious.
Even though I had some issues, the single, male point of view, I loved. The storyline was new and fresh, the chemistry between Kathryn and Adam was smoking and exploring Tantra had me hooked.
I enjoyed the book and would recommend it and I’m looking forward to the next book in the series.
Can mixing business and pleasure ever result in a happy ending?
When sexy, rich Lawrence Russo asks Mia to come and work for him in Italy for two weeks, she jumps at the chance. After all, it beats pole dancing, and the salary he offers her is practically obscene.
A relationship quickly begins to develop between the two, but Mia can't help but wonder if Lawrence's feelings for her are genuine or if he feels he's just paying for a service.
Even if their relationship is strong enough to survive her insecurities, what will happen when somebody from her past shows up and threatens to reveal her deepest, darkest secret?
Content Warning: explicit sex
~~~~~

This book was fast paced and started out with immediate fire and passion.  The chemistry between the two characters was undeniable.

 Mia’s feeling of insecurity was realistic and helped move the conflict plot along. Lawrence’s lack of understanding of this problem was an added conflict, making the plot a little more complicated.

 I got the feeling it was a naughtier version of Pretty Woman. The sex was hot and explicit and made the pages turn easily. A great start for Ms. Emily Wood.

A choice between two men? If only it were that simple.

Melissa Morgan seems to have it all…her modeling career is taking off and she's engaged to one of the most eligible bachelors in London. But when she finds Jonathan cheating on her again, Melissa finds solace in the arms of Riley, a sexy bar owner trying to recover from the heartbreak of his last relationship. Melissa shouldn't even want Riley, but she can't seem to stay away, especially when she finds in him everything that's missing in her relationship with Jonathan.

Melissa knows she has to make a hard choice, and when it comes to choosing between the life she's always wanted and the man she's falling in love with, she might find out that she can't have the best of both worlds.

Content Warning: explicit sex and strong language
~~~~~
This story was about a woman had to make a choice between the life she always wanted and a love of a lifetime.
 This was fast paced and a sultry ride. It started of slow and little by little she took us down a road of intimacy, passion and love.
 Melissa’s dilemma of having to choose her comfortable life with a man who loves her, but can’t change his cheating ways or a love that may be one of a lifetime was heartbreaking.  Leaving her feeling unloved and isolated. This conflict makes her a perfect heroine. I cared what happened to her right from the beginning of the book.
 Riley’s reason for guarding his heart is not as clear, but you know it is something big.  You feel for Riley and his desire to protect his heart.
 The chemistry between the two is immediate. They fall in bed together at their first meeting and the sultry ride begins. The sex is hot and explicit.
 I enjoyed the series and would read more from this author.
Meet Emily
I have always believed that the best stories are the ones that you can't put down, the ones that transport you to a different place and make you believe in the characters. This is exactly why I write… I have always loved the escapism that reading and writing provides, and there is nothing more exciting than imagining your own set of characters, and then letting them practically write the story for you. Writing has always been a dream of mine, and I'm lucky to have the kind of people around me that have always nurtured and encouraged my passion.
I live a cozy little life in Wales, and when I'm not writing I'm taking care of my young family, studying for a degree in Classical Studies, and training to become a nail technician. I love traveling to new places, meeting new people, and experiencing new things…it's all great inspiration for my books!
Death of a Waterfall is a new book by up and coming author, Kara Leigh Miller. I must tell you that I am already a fan of Kara’s and was not disappointed in her latest work.
Teghan Jacobs didn’t think anything could be worse than learning she’s pregnant by a man she’s been dating less than six months. Boy was she wrong. Her mother, whose drowning in the river of denial, refuses to take a side on the issue. Her overbearing, manipulative father threatens to disown her and cut her off from her trust fund if she doesn’t have an abortion.
Donnie Marks couldn’t be happier. The woman he loves, the woman he fought so hard to be with, is going to have his baby. Life has never been better. But when she shows up in his dorm, sobbing and heartbroken, he learns the horrible truth of what happened. He vows to get revenge on the man who's responsible: Teghan's father.
I can’t say enough about this amazing coming of age story. It is about a girl who spent most of her perfect life pleasing people and the fall of what happens when she starts to live her own life. There is everything in this story, family loyalty, love, loss, tragedy, friendship and a bit of intrigue.
Teghan is a strong female lead. She is a spoiled little brat. Kara does an excellent job making her relatable and likeable at the same time. She has flaws like any girl her age, but her biggest flaw is she wants to please everyone.
Dysfunction does not even touch on a description of her family. She has an older sister who seems to be missing a lot. I did wish she had been more present in the storyline. She has an older brother Trevor, who is a typical college boy. Her mother Rachel is physically there, but no emotional support to Teghan, whatsoever. Jim is her father and makes an excellent villain. Other than that, I am going to follow the rule my grandmother taught me. “If you don’t have anything nice to say about someone, don’t say anything at all”.
Donnie is the male lead. Donnie is a guy from the “other side of the tracks” and he and Teghan have an instant connection. He has many endearing qualities, but he loses my love eventually. We don’t know much about Donnie and that is the best part. There is much more to come about him.
The gang of friends that Teghan hangs out with is a likeable bunch. Annabel her best friend, could have showed more support. It was implied but I would have liked to see more from a friendship like that. There are a few in the group I would love to see expanded on in the nest book (There had better another.)
 There is a romance, but I have to say it has moments where it is dark. Meaning the subject matter is dark. It all adds to the story and it would not be the same without it but, dark still the same.
 I did not know there was a genre known as New Adult. This is my first title in it. I look forward to more in this and by this author.
The COMPLETE TRILOGY
Julia Abbot and Ryan Matthews have been in separable best friends since the moment they met. Each of the fight an internal battle, unwilling to risk their incredible friendship, but unable to quell their deep (but secret) longing for the other. On the verge of Ryan's departure to Harvard Medical School and Julia's for her new job on the opposite coast, they are forced to face the undeniable truth of their deeper feelings and find themselves enthralled in a passion like neither has ever known.
The lovers are faced with forced separation, great distance, and others who try to come between them as they work to build the shared future they both dream of. When their lives begin to finally gel, Julia is offered a promotion that will jettison her career to new heights. Ryan is left angry and bereft as it will only postpone their reunion yet again. In light of all she has sacrificed for him, he can hardly deny her, and Julia is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. Will she chose the chance of a lifetime or the love of her life?
An incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking romance, full of passion and intensity that will leave you spellbound and gasping for the next installment of Ryan and Julia's story..
Ryan and Julia have been friends forever. They both spent their college years denying otherwise, to themselves and each other. After Ryan is accepted to medical school in Boston, a childhood dream. He decides he can’t live without seeing her everyday. He wants her to move with him but does not want to risk exposing his feelings for her at the cost of their friendship. Julia is thrilled for Ryan, but knows she will be at a loss without him. She loves him deeply, but does not want to lose his friendship to a possible fling. They remain totally in love with each other, with out the other one knowing it.
There is only one thing I like better than a love story: a hot, steamy one. This first installment of the Remembrance Series by Kahelen Amyes is just that. At the foundation this is a really touching love story with sizzle to keep the pages turning faster.
Ryan is a young, handsome doctor to be. He is a bit too good to be true. He is sensitive, caring and loving. But, as with most men, does not have a clue. Kahlen does a beautiful job gently easing Ryan into reaching his full potential.
            Julia is a very patient, loyal and talented girl. I was concerned at the beginning of the story she was going to be one of those heroines who throws away all her talent for the sake of love. Thankfully, Julia is a strong and thoughtful character through the whole book.
            The supporting cast is wonderful. They could have done a better job of shaking some reality into these two, but were still very believable as family and friends. Julia’s girlfriends were diverse and all had something to cheer them on for. Aaron, Ryan’s brother is nicely portrayed as a little rougher around the edges than Ryan, making Ryan much more believable. Without his interactions with Aaron, he would indeed, be too good to be true.
            The chemistry between Ryan and Julia burns through the pages as they continue to deny their true feelings for each other. Distance only turns smoke into flames as they continue to deny their feelings. After months of not seeing each other their need for each other grows too great and Ryan crosses the country to spend just a weekend with Julia. The discoveries they make about each other in that short amount of time left me breathless. Kahlen does a seamless job taking us down years of their long journey of friendship, loss, love, lust, regret and passion.
Ryan Matthews has everything he ever wanted. Close to graduation from Harvard Medical School and on the verge of marrying his gorgeous and accomplished girlfriend, Julia Abbott, his dreams are about to come true.
Julia is on the fast track as a fashion editor for a big New York magazine. Ryan plans to join her there to complete his residency at a major trauma center and all of their sacrifice is finally at it's end.
When tragedy strikes, their relationship is hurled into turmoil that leaves Ryan devastated as sorrow drives him to keep his distance, while Julia reaches out to find him again.
The second book of The Remembrance Trilogy follows Ryan and Julia's quest to rebuild their stunning past; an incredibly beautiful and heart-breaking romance, full of passion, intensity and truly immeasurable love. You'll be left spellbound, breathless and aching for more...
At the end of book one, The Future of Our Past, Ryan and Julia have struggled with their separation over Ryan’s years in medical school. Ryan is moving to New York City to finish out his residency so they can finally be together. Julia has been doing so well in her career at Vogue all these years, she has been offered an amazing opportunity in Paris. This would mean a longer separation. Although neither of them is thrilled with the idea of being separated for another year, they are moving forward with the plan. Until Julia gets some expected news and rushes to Ryan to tell him.
After reading the first book I was wondering how Kahlen was going to keep up the level of intesnsity she set. She accomplished it once again. These two people have this undying love that seems to defy everything fate has to throw at them. As their love intensifies so does the heat between them. She does a great job making every scene a page turner.
Ryan shows true strength. The situation really tests his love and devotion to Julia. He puts her needs before his own and is a real support to Julia. She is a mess. Not to give too much away, but she is having trouble with reality. Even in crisis she is still giving Ryan a run for his money. The rest of the family is more involved as the story line demands it. They are a dream family, supportive, caring and devoted.
I did find it odd that when Ryan described a significant event, he mentioned details I don’t think a normal man would have noticed. But then again Ryan is so ordinary man. It was difficult to see Julia is such a bad place. She was such a strong girl in the first book. I wanted to believe she would have dealt with the events better than she did. Given the severity of the situations I would have would expected more conflict between the families.
There are some developing side stories regarding the friends and family. I hope those storylines are continued on in third book of the series.
Despite the hardship of this book, the love shines through on the pages. The sex is still as hot and steamy when the pieces fall into place. This book was a real roller coaster. There were parts of the book where I had to actually fight back the tears. I’d like to think they stay in a happier place in, A Love Like This, the third book of the Remembrance Trilogy, with Ryan and Julia’s luck, I am not to sure. I can’t wait to find out.
~~~~~

Recipe for Love, is the second book in The Cupcake Diaries. It picks up with Rachel, the party girl. Rachel is a firm believer of a two-date rule.  She has been hurt before and does not want to repeat it. Relationships are tricky. Especially for Rachel when a mysterious masked man tempts her, Mike the Magician.  He cuts her in half in a magic show in their expansion of Creative Cupcakes, when they first meet. Her friends and co-workers, Andi and Kim, encourage her to find love, when they hire Mike to drive their new Cupcake Mobile. Their business is still new and they are still trying to make the business a success.

Rachel has alot riding on it.  Her grandfather is very ill. She needs to help her mother save her grandfather with expensive medical treatments.  She needs this business to be a success so she can make payments for an experimental medical procedures. To top it all off they have a new nemesis, an arrogant French pastry maker, who seems like he will do anything to close the doors of Creative Cupcakes forever.  They have a few regular groups of customers that help keep them afloat. One of them is the Saturday Cupcake Club.  They are a club of lonely women who have loved and lost.  The women of Creative Cupcakes refer to them as the Lonley Hearts Club. Rachel doesn’t understand them she does her best to avoid them. One of her fears is becoming a one of them.

Everything goes wrong for these girls.  Rachel the forever-party girl brainstorms a grand promotional party and has it broadcasted over You Tube.  Chaos does not even begin to describe it.  Will it still save the business and get her to move past her two-date rule and not become part of the Lonely Hearts Cupcake Club, one of their best customers?

…”And don’t forget to swing your hips as you serve the cupcakes,” Kim added.  “Maybe Magic Mike will wave his want and whisk you under his cape for a kiss.”

“I can hope.” Rachel said.  “I haven’t had a date in two weeks.”

 “Is that a new record?” Andi teased.

 “Almost.”

“Maybe if you kept one guy around long enough, you wouldn’t have to worry about finding a date.” Kim said …

”Oh, NO!” Rachel shook her head. “Rule number one. Never date the same man three times in a row.  First dates are fabulous, second dates are fun, but third dates? That’s when guys start to they freaking know you, and the relationship fails. Better to stick with the two dates and forget the rest.

Rachel ends up goings on the first date with Mike the Magnificent.  Her rule about dating is in danger of being broken.

…All she wanted to do at that moment was kiss him. As he builds a sand castle of the original Peer Iredale showing his expertise in creating precision models or movie sets, all she wanted to do was kiss him. And after they ate a picnic lunch on the same dunes, all she wanted to do was kiss him.

But darn it, all Mike did was continue to romance her with his sweet talk, sweeter smile and sweet yet disturbing way of looking right into her soul. He was so sweet, maybe she’s name a cupcake after him after she tasted his kiss. She only hoped the anticipation wouldn’t be followed by a letdown. She had more than enough of those on her plate.

But can she give up her partying ways to keep her heart safe or will she throw the rules away and let Mike see the real her?

Fixing her attention on the goal of promoting her party, she walked over to Caleb O’Neal, the camera tech. He worked with a local media crew, and they’d met when Jake had him install a security camera in the shop.

“Are we being recorded right now?” Rachel asked. “Yeah,” Caleb assured her, it’s on a timer, and I’ll upload to YouTube as soon as the party is over.”

“Make sure you film everyone having a great time,” Rachel told him.

…”Who was that Mike?" asked, nodding to Caleb.

…”Do I detect a hint of jealousy?” she teased

Mike grinned “I can’t ask you to marry me if you’re interested in someone else.”

Rachel rolled her eyes. “Be carefull how you joke with me Mike Palmer. One of these time when you ask me to marry you, I might be tempted to say yes.”

“Really?” Mike asked. “Then tell me, who is the techie?”

Rachel shrugged. “He’s just a friend.”

“Like Me?”

“Rachel has lots of friends,” a woman nearby interrupted. “She’s friends with everyone, she is the friendliest person on earth.”

“I think you have had too much to drink,” Rachel told her.

“There is never too much to drink.” The woman said asked the crowd around her. “Am I right?”

 “Right!” the people cheered.

In the old days Rachel would have been thrilled with herself. She managed to pull off the perfect party and it was being filmed. All destined to be on YouTube in just a few hours. Creative Cupcakes was a hit, but she wanted to do was kick them all out of her shop.

“You didn’t have to do this, “Mike said, his face grim. This isn’t you. This isn’t the Rachel I know.”

 “You’re right. This was a mistake.”

  Mike gave her a solemn look. “The party? Or me?”

…”I’ll catch up with you later,” Mike told her and backed away.

 “Wait, wait,” she called but it was too late.

Has she succeeded in saving Creative Cupcakes? Has she saved her heart? Or has she destroyed her relationship with Mike and will she end up a part of the Lonely Hearts Saturday Cupcake Club?

This was a lighthearted story about three friends banding together to achieve their dreams and finding true love, against all odds.  I enjoyed the French baker as the villain.  He was a nasty man, I found myself hoping he would fail miserable.  All the characters were well developed. The tattoed biker makes another appearance and is as wonderful as his first appearance.  Mike and Rachel are the love of the story. A sweet and kind love story that has your rooting for them all the way to the end.  The heart of the story is Andi, Rachel and Kim.  Their continuing struggle to hold on to their dream is inspiring.  I can’t wait for the third book.

Forty is the New Twenty... or is it better?

            “The last time I felt totally in control of my life, and also the first time I felt like I was a real adult, was at twenty-seven.” Maggie muses. “I had a husband, a career, a NYC life. Recent grads were young and silly. Anyone over thirty was stuck. Forty was ancient. Little did I realize how fleeting the feeling would be. How fleeting that life would be.”

            “Would you go back?” Selah asks.

            “Me?” Maggie confirms. Taking a minute to think about it, she shakes her head. “No, I don’t think I would. Would any of you?”

 ~ Geoducks Are for Lovers

            The media loves to tell us that forty is the new twenty as if everyone on the far side of their twenties is desperate to do the impossible and return to being a twenty-something.

            Not me. Maybe in theory, but the reality of being a twenty-something wasn't all that fun.

            My novel, Geoducks Are for Lovers, focuses on a group of forty-something friends who get together for a summer weekend at the beach. As with any group of old friends, they spend some of the weekend reminiscing about their younger selves as well as catching up on their lives today. There's a lot of talk about the fun of twenty and the realities of being forty. When you're twenty, forty sounds like old age. When you are forty, twenty seems like another lifetime. Or yesterday. Sometimes both.

            In a positive light, if forty is the new twenty, that just means there are lots of adventures still to experience.  You don't have to go quietly into the night of “middle age” and mom jeans.

            Forty is freedom

In your twenties, there's a freedom with being out on your own, being in charge of your life, and your direction. But there is also the feeling that every decision will be set in stone. At forty you know yourself better and learn that life is fluid and ever-changing. You know what you won't put up with in jobs and relationships, what matters more than getting into the new, cool club or having the latest “it” bag/shoe/makeup/jeans, and what you makes you happy. You can still eat cookie dough for dinner or an entire box of pizza rolls dipped in blue cheese dressing (guilty), but you know the difference between indulging and doing the better thing for yourself.

            Forty is forgiveness

Our inner voices of “you can't do that” get quieter in our forties. Or maybe we just don't listen to them as much as we do in our twenties. My friends and I are more comfortable owning our lives/mistakes/triumphs/waistlines in our forties than in our twenties. The twists and turns, opportunities taken and missed, relationships made and broken in the journey from twenty to forty have made us who we are. And we're pretty amazing, if we say so ourselves.

            Forty is fun

Or it can be. Make yourself a priority like you did in your twenties. Spend time with friends who make you laugh until you pee. Find something to be passionate about like you were in your twenties or teen years. Be a fangirl of something. Be ridiculous. Don't care with others think and have fun!

Food writer Maggie Marrion is just getting back on her feet after a horrible year, or two, or three. With their twentieth reunion approaching, she invites four of her closest friends from college for a weekend at her beach cabin. What she doesn’t expect is her best friends, artist Quinn Dayton and part-time erotica novelist, Selah Elmore, to play matchmaker. The two plot a surprise that will make the weekend, and her life, a lot more interesting.
Gil Morrow, former grunge musician turned history professor, joins them as Selah’s date for the weekend. After coming face to face with the one who got away, he decides he's waited long enough to get the girl. With the support of old friends, a few wishing rocks, the world’s largest burrowing clam, and a hot lumberjack thrown into the mix, Gil reminds Maggie that forty-something isn’t too old for second chances.
Can we learn to love the life we have and let go of who we expected to be? What happens when the generation from The Breakfast Club and Reality Bites meets The Big Chill? Come spend a weekend with these Generation X-ers as they share laughter, tears, life’s ups and downs, old stories, and new beginnings.

Everything happens for a reason…

After Maggie loses her mother to a long illness, she retreats to her mother’s Pacific Northwest island home.  She becomes nestled in the island lifestyle.  Being content in living as a local girl, she is free to do her work on-line as a food blogger, she rarely has a need to leave the island.

With an upcoming college reunion, she invites her college gang over for a long summer weekend.  The gang is fun loving and complete with the power couple, Ben and Joe, Quinn the flamboyant gay artist and his new husband and Selah the single girl and bestselling erotica author.  When Selah asks to bring a friend, Maggie expects it to be one of her boy toys.  She does not expect it to be Gil, her first love.  Will Maggie be able to leave her safe and secure world and take a second chance at love nearly two decades later?

This is wonderful story about friendships and first loves and taking chances.  I enjoyed this story and was sad when it was over, feeling like I had left my friends back at the beach.

Looking around at everyone, she realizes, they’ve known each other more than half their lives. Decades. Their friendships now measured in blocks of years instead of weeks, months of even days.  The fact they are drinking cans of ‘Oly’ might be adding to the nostalgia.

Maggie and Gil are the heart of the story.  The undying love and friendship they have is a wonderful tale that is woven through the nostalgia and present day.  Sparks fly and rekindle after all the years.

“Oh, Maggie, what do you do to me?  I feel like I’m twenty and you have really snuck me into your room.” She giggles.  It’s kind of funny that we’re sneaking around twenty-two years later.”

But, Maggie struggles with letting go of her comfortable island lifestyle.  She is bound to make the same mistakes again.

A great love story. It has beautiful settings, witty humor and a bit of sexual tension. A great debut!

Enjoy and Happy Reading!
