Spring break was supposed to be a last blast of fun for three friends before the reality of adulthood set in. But for the trio’s science whiz, it’s an education in instant attraction…

Chemistry major Felicity Stone can tell you everything about the way chemicals interact, but when it comes to social interaction, she needs schooling. Abandoned by her friends, Felicity is faced with spending spring break alone—unless she accepts a gorgeous stranger’s invitation to pose as his girlfriend at a family wedding. Not one to turn down a research opportunity, Felicity never expected it to produce such breathtaking results…

Teacher and baseball coach Lucas Tanner is fascinated by Felicity’s potent mix of spirit and scientist, not to mention her delicious curves. When Felicity asks him to return the favor by teaching her how to pick up guys, he can’t refuse—but he’s not at all happy with the idea of her using a formula for flirting on anyone but him. Can he convince her that together they have the perfect chemistry?

Her Winning Formula – Meet the Hero

By: Shannyn Schroeder

The hero of Her Winning Formula is Lucas Tanner. Lucas is a special ed teacher and baseball coach who is giving up his spring break to go to his brother’s wedding in South Padre Island in Texas. In the airport, he meets Felicity. He thinks she’s cute and tries talking to her, but she seems uninterested.

Lucas doesn’t give up easily though. Felicity helps him get through take off and landing (he’s afraid to fly) and he decides she could solve all his problems. He’s on a moratorium from dating, so he doesn’t have a girlfriend to bring to the wedding. Normally, that wouldn’t be an issue, but his ex is the maid of honor and rumor has it that she’s looking for a reconciliation. He doesn’t, so he hopes Felicity will pretend to be his girlfriend.

After a snafu at the rental counter, Lucas, being the good guy that he is, gives Felicity his rental car, leaving himself stranded until she offers to drive him. This is the first example of the kind of guy Lucas is. He’s a fixer. He does everything in his power to help people. For the most part, it’s a good thing, but when it comes to dating, he tends to be attracted to women who have issues. He tends to treat them like projects, something to fix before moving on, hence the moratorium on dating.

When Felicity agrees to be his date, he’s thrilled and he offers to help her get through the night with minimal effort. The more time they spend together, the more attracted he is to Felicity. He doesn’t want her to spend the remainder of her spring break picking up other guys, but he is true to his word and teaches Felicity how to flirt. It about kills him when she finds success while flirting.

Lucas was interesting to write. From the outside, he seems like the perfect guy. And in many ways, he is. He understands people—what they need, how they feel. But part of his need to fix things means he likes to be in charge. He wants to handle everything. When it comes to his family, they almost expect this and he ends up being in charge of many wedding details and problems. When it comes to women, he doesn’t quite know what to do with them once they are “fixed.”

Things are different with Felicity because he doesn’t really think she needs fixing. He falls for her exactly as she is. Of course, then he needs to convince her of this.
