The COMPLETE TRILOGY

Julia Abbot and Ryan Matthews have been in separable best friends since the moment they met. Each of the fight an internal battle, unwilling to risk their incredible friendship, but unable to quell their deep (but secret) longing for the other. On the verge of Ryan's departure to Harvard Medical School and Julia's for her new job on the opposite coast, they are forced to face the undeniable truth of their deeper feelings and find themselves enthralled in a passion like neither has ever known.
The lovers are faced with forced separation, great distance, and others who try to come between them as they work to build the shared future they both dream of. When their lives begin to finally gel, Julia is offered a promotion that will jettison her career to new heights. Ryan is left angry and bereft as it will only postpone their reunion yet again. In light of all she has sacrificed for him, he can hardly deny her, and Julia is faced with the most difficult decision of her life. Will she chose the chance of a lifetime or the love of her life?
An incredibly beautiful and heartbreaking romance, full of passion and intensity that will leave you spellbound and gasping for the next installment of Ryan and Julia's story..

Ryan and Julia have been friends forever. They both spent their college years denying otherwise, to themselves and each other. After Ryan is accepted to medical school in Boston, a childhood dream. He decides he can’t live without seeing her everyday. He wants her to move with him but does not want to risk exposing his feelings for her at the cost of their friendship. Julia is thrilled for Ryan, but knows she will be at a loss without him. She loves him deeply, but does not want to lose his friendship to a possible fling. They remain totally in love with each other, with out the other one knowing it.

There is only one thing I like better than a love story: a hot, steamy one. This first installment of the Remembrance Series by Kahelen Amyes is just that. At the foundation this is a really touching love story with sizzle to keep the pages turning faster.

Ryan is a young, handsome doctor to be. He is a bit too good to be true. He is sensitive, caring and loving. But, as with most men, does not have a clue. Kahlen does a beautiful job gently easing Ryan into reaching his full potential.

Julia is a very patient, loyal and talented girl. I was concerned at the beginning of the story she was going to be one of those heroines who throws away all her talent for the sake of love. Thankfully, Julia is a strong and thoughtful character through the whole book.

The supporting cast is wonderful. They could have done a better job of shaking some reality into these two, but were still very believable as family and friends. Julia’s girlfriends were diverse and all had something to cheer them on for. Aaron, Ryan’s brother is nicely portrayed as a little rougher around the edges than Ryan, making Ryan much more believable. Without his interactions with Aaron, he would indeed, be too good to be true.

The chemistry between Ryan and Julia burns through the pages as they continue to deny their true feelings for each other. Distance only turns smoke into flames as they continue to deny their feelings. After months of not seeing each other their need for each other grows too great and Ryan crosses the country to spend just a weekend with Julia. The discoveries they make about each other in that short amount of time left me breathless. Kahlen does a seamless job taking us down years of their long journey of friendship, loss, love, lust, regret and passion.

Ryan Matthews has everything he ever wanted. Close to graduation from Harvard Medical School and on the verge of marrying his gorgeous and accomplished girlfriend, Julia Abbott, his dreams are about to come true.

Julia is on the fast track as a fashion editor for a big New York magazine. Ryan plans to join her there to complete his residency at a major trauma center and all of their sacrifice is finally at it's end.

When tragedy strikes, their relationship is hurled into turmoil that leaves Ryan devastated as sorrow drives him to keep his distance, while Julia reaches out to find him again.

The second book of The Remembrance Trilogy follows Ryan and Julia's quest to rebuild their stunning past; an incredibly beautiful and heart-breaking romance, full of passion, intensity and truly immeasurable love. You'll be left spellbound, breathless and aching for more...

At the end of book one, The Future of Our Past, Ryan and Julia have struggled with their separation over Ryan’s years in medical school. Ryan is moving to New York City to finish out his residency so they can finally be together. Julia has been doing so well in her career at Vogue all these years, she has been offered an amazing opportunity in Paris. This would mean a longer separation. Although neither of them is thrilled with the idea of being separated for another year, they are moving forward with the plan. Until Julia gets some expected news and rushes to Ryan to tell him.

After reading the first book I was wondering how Kahlen was going to keep up the level of intesnsity she set. She accomplished it once again. These two people have this undying love that seems to defy everything fate has to throw at them. As their love intensifies so does the heat between them. She does a great job making every scene a page turner.

Ryan shows true strength. The situation really tests his love and devotion to Julia. He puts her needs before his own and is a real support to Julia. She is a mess. Not to give too much away, but she is having trouble with reality. Even in crisis she is still giving Ryan a run for his money. The rest of the family is more involved as the story line demands it. They are a dream family, supportive, caring and devoted.

I did find it odd that when Ryan described a significant event, he mentioned details I don’t think a normal man would have noticed. But then again Ryan is so ordinary man. It was difficult to see Julia is such a bad place. She was such a strong girl in the first book. I wanted to believe she would have dealt with the events better than she did. Given the severity of the situations I would have would expected more conflict between the families.

There are some developing side stories regarding the friends and family. I hope those storylines are continued on in third book of the series.

Despite the hardship of this book, the love shines through on the pages. The sex is still as hot and steamy when the pieces fall into place. This book was a real roller coaster. There were parts of the book where I had to actually fight back the tears. I’d like to think they stay in a happier place in, A Love Like This, the third book of the Remembrance Trilogy, with Ryan and Julia’s luck, I am not to sure. I can’t wait to find out.
