So, without further ado...W. Charlene Ammons...

Thank you Lisa for inviting me to blog on A Tasty Read. I've been looking forward to doing a book tour for sometime now and feel honored knowing that you are one of the stops on my tour.

I guess one of the most common questions I get asked in interviews and by readers is "Where do you find the inspiration to write? The first thing that pops into my mind is--My everyday life.

It's funny really because I recall a journal entry in high school where I wrote down, "Nothing ever happens to me. My life is boring". Well, that was the kiss of death, as they say, to my normal life. I ended up getting married, getting divorced, graduating college, joining the Sheriffs Office, nearly being killed by a suspect with a gun, meeting Rudy Giuliani, Karl Rove, and actor David Hart, getting married again, investigating a homicide, becoming the Public Information Officer (thus being thrown into the local limelight) and speaking before a room full of Florida Sheriffs at a state conference. Not too damn shabby for an old country gal! My friends playfully tease me about my crazy life and the things I have endured but I really believe that God has placed me where he has to give me material.

Now, some readers out there will say they could never write a story. I'm a believer in that every soul has a story to tell. And I'm also fairly certain that most of the women readers out there at some point in their lives have written in a journal. There's your story! An entry here....an entry there. Take it and run with it. Embellish it (or maybe you don't have to!). Things that seem trivial to you may interest the person next to you.

I was recently at a conference where I spoke about my writing process. A lady in the audience brought up that her husband's aunt, who had been an ER nurse, had written down little things she saw or overheard each day at work. The lady said there were only a few lines to each story but I told her that would make a GREAT book. The notes chronicled her life for years. She could easily take those few lines of history and then spin fiction into it. The group thought it was a great idea and the ladies present started jotting down their own ideas. Hopefully that example inspired a room full of successful women to start planning story lines in their heads!

My main point in this blog? Everyone has a story. You don't have to be some creative genius to spin a tale of adventure or romance. It's everyday life. So what are you waiting for?

Omega, Alabama in 1941 was a place that only storytellers could dream of. Times were hard and faith was wandering; until Mode Lee entered the picture. The handsome preacher brought what appeared to be miracle after miracle to the tight knit community. However, evil things lurked in the wake of the arrival of this "Man of God". It would take a frightened, mentally unstable child; the mother of the county sheriff; and a wild natured redhead to bring the truth to light. Everyone claims to have a plan. Only One is The Plan.
