Opposites do more than just attract in Toni Aleo’s latest Nashville Assassins novel about a very bad boy and the good girl he can’t resist.

The instant Piper Allen sees Erik Titov, she wants him—wants his rock-hard body, sure, but the strength and mystery that lies behind that superstar hockey jock demeanor, too. So when he sidles up to her at a bar and slinks his arm around her waist, she’s lost. What follows is the wildest night of her life . . . followed by inevitable heartbreak the next morning. And then, a few weeks later, a very big surprise: two blue lines on a pregnancy test.

Only a check to the head could make Erik fall for a nice girl like Piper. But since their crazy-sexy night together, he’s been trying to forget about her alluring body by falling into bed with every woman in Nashville, and it’s not working. So when Piper shows up at his house with a baby-bomb to drop, it doesn’t take much for Erik to suggest the nuclear option: marriage. While it’s supposed to be all for show, the second they say “I do,” the ice between them starts to melt into sizzling steam.

Includes a special message from the editor, as well as excerpts from these Loveswept titles: Taking Shots, Trying to Score, and Empty Net.

“Probation?” Erik said, shocked, as he reached for the file and looked down at it. Surely he’d heard her wrong.
“Yes, for the rest of the summer. You are a free agent, Erik. I can either let you go or keep you. There are loads of reasons why I shouldn’t keep you.”
“What?” he asked incredulously.
When he looked up to meet her sad green eyes, his gut fell. She didn’t want to let him go as much as he didn’t want to leave. This was her team, her image, and if he was honest with himself, he had been careless the last couple of months. What she didn’t understand was that he was trying to forget, trying to cloud his mind. He didn’t like the feeling he got when he thought of her, Piper.
“What does this entail, Mrs. Adler?” Koey asked as he reached for the file and started reading.
“It means that if he messes up one more time, he is gone.”
Her gaze held his as his brain tried to comprehend her words. Surely this wasn’t happening.
“You’re bluffing,” Erik said with scorn. “You wouldn’t get rid of me. I’m one of the best on the team. Come on, Elli, you can’t be serious.
“The best or not, Mr. Titov, you are tainting the image of the Assassins,” Michael Fisher said. Erik’s eyes cut from Elli’s to the primary owner of the team. Michael Fisher was older now, and looked every one of his sixty-nine years. His green eyes were still sharp, and Erik knew from the anger shown on his face that he was in deep shit. “I didn’t start this team with talent. I started this team with hardworking, good men. If we don’t feel you fall into that category, you’re gone.”

Oh Ms. Toni, how your writing SHINES with FALLING FOR THE BACKUP!  You have the ability to make me laugh, and tear-up in a manner of what...eight chapters...WOW!!

I completely loved Jordan and Anyslee's romance, from page one I was HOOKED, and the pages just flew by, and I was so terribly sad when it was over...I want more Jorlee!!

First, I love red-headed heroines, and Anyslee might just be one of my favorites, outspoken, spunky, has a HUGE heart and she goes after what she wants!  Jordan was not only SEXAYYYYY, but I loved how happy he was with Anyslee, and the change in him, when he went from being a man just wandering, to a man who saw himself as a man worthy of Anyslee's love.  I swear...I think I fell a little bit in love with him.

This novella is heartwarming, STEAMY STEAMY STEAMY....WHOA, and crack-up FUNNY!!  Toni's amazing personality always shines through in her writing, and FALLING FOR THE BACK UP is Toni at her best!

If you haven't read the Nashville Assassins Series yet....I suggest you get on it IMMEDIATELY!! Can't wait for BLUE LINES, the next full length romance by Toni, coming late summer.

No matter how hard she tries, Eleanor Fisher never thinks she’s good enough, from her job to her weight to her love life. After enduring years of abuse at the hands of an ex-boyfriend, Elli has been drifting through life in a daze. Until, that is, she meets Shea Adler on a promotional shoot for the NHL’s Nashville Assassins. Before Elli knows what’s happening, the gorgeous Shea breaks the ice and shatters her world.

A brilliant athlete inside the rink, Shea Adler is tired of the life he’s living outside of it: the girls, the money, the drinking. But everything changes when he meets Elli. After laying eyes on this feisty, witty, beautiful woman, he feels like he’s just taken the hardest hit of his life. No matter how skeptical she is, Shea knows they are meant to be together—if only he can convince Elli to put her insecurities aside throw her insecurities out the window before she misses out on a shot at love.

In a captivating novel of hockey and healing hearts, the newest member of the Nashville Assassins pulls a power play to make things right with the one that got away.

Fallon Parker’s dream has always been to turn her family’s wine company into a runaway success and eventually to start a cellar of her own. Since graduating from college, she has worked relentlessly to make that dream a reality, especially after taking a chance on love—and losing. By the time Fallon becomes an official sponsor of the Nashville Assassins, she feels like all her hard work is finally paying off. And then the man who broke her heart skates back into her life.

On the ice, Lucas Brooks is the NHL’s leading scorer—at least when he’s not in the box. Off the ice, he’s a mess, with all his anger and misery bottled up inside. He threw away the most important person in his life and has regretted it ever since. But when Lucas returns to Nashville in a trade, he’s determined to convince Fallon that he’s a changed man. The attraction is still there. The tension is electrifying. But the odds are stacked against them—especially after Lucas finds out that Fallon has been keeping a devastating secret.

The chiseled men of the Nashville Assassins can make anything happen when they go all-out for the women they want—even turn a one-night stand into a happily ever after.

Audrey Parker is up against the boards. She’s stuck in a job she hates and pining for a total jerk. Meanwhile, her sister Fallon is moving out and getting married to hockey star Lucas Brooks. Where is Audrey’s Prince Charming? Nothing she does has ever seemed to be good enough for any of the men in her life. Audrey’s about to hit rock bottom . . . until she wakes up next to Tate Odder.

The thrill of moving up from the minors to the Nashville Assassins was a welcome distraction. But not even becoming the first rookie goalie to tally three shutouts in the Stanley Cup Finals alleviates the pain. With the loss of his parents and sister weighing as heavily on his soul as ever, Tate Odder can’t keep pretending he’s okay. That’s when he meets smart, sexy Audrey. Her gentle warmth and quirky sense of humor make him feel whole for the first time in too long. But to stay that way forever, Tate must find a way to accept his past and learn to live for love.

Assassins Are At It Again

Empty Net
Assassins #3
Toni Aleo
Released Sept 3rd, 2012
353 Pages
Kindle Publishing
Source: Gifted by Author

Definition of an Empty Net: When a team pulls the goalie for an extra attacker, desperately seeking a goal.

Audrey Parker was in a horrible place.
She hated her job, her sister was getting married and moving out, but worst of all, she was in love with a total jerk. No matter what she did, every guy she met hurt her. All she wanted was her happily ever after. Her Prince Charming. Her Lucas Brooks! She didn’t know how to change her life but she knew she needed too.  Feeling like she was about to hit rock bottom, Audrey wakes up next to Tate Odder.

Tate Odder had lost everything.
After being brought up from the Assassins’ farm team, the Florida Rays to the Nashville Assassins, Tate hopes he’ll forget everything he has lost. He doesn’t. Each day gets harder to live in a place he doesn’t know. Even being the first rookie goalie to shut out an opposing team three times during the Lord Stanley Cup Finals, he still felt Tempty. With the loss of his parents and sister still heavy on his heart, Tate isn’t sure how to live like everything is okay.

But when he wakes up beside Audrey Parker, things start to change. She turns his life upside down with her kooky sense of humor and her bright clothing. She is intelligent and beautiful, and for once, he doesn’t feel empty.

Will Audrey be the person to fill the holes in Tate’s heart, making him whole again?
Or will another player ruin everything, leaving him feeling forever like an empty net?

With Toni Aleo we are never disappointed!!  Empty Net is another fun, sexy, slightly tragic romance where we find two lovers battling for a chance at true love.

I enjoyed the romance between Audrey and Tate, even through sometimes I wanted to smack Audrey for being such a push-over when it came to dating horrible men.  But like your own girlfriends...you can only tell them so many times until they have to make up their own minds about the men they are dating.  That's who Audrey felt like, one of my girlfriends who kept dating complete losers. Until Tate.

Tate was adorable, very sensitive, slightly broken, but adorable.  I think he is my favorite hero of Toni Aleo's Assassins Series.  He is kind, generous, and head over heels for Audrey, but he doesn't push her to be more than friends...since that is what she continues to remind herself.

There were a few moments where the same issues kept arising, but once you got passed that, the romance was quite a roller coaster ride...I say "hold on to your hats ladies...it's going to be a bumpy ride."

I am very intrigued by what will come next, I believe we are left with quite the cliffhanger at the end of Empty Net and I can't wait to see what Toni has planned for Piper and her hero who is yet to be named!!

This is a fun series, especially if you like sexy hockey players and the women who have them falling to their knees.  I recommend Toni's Assassin's Series and I hope you all enjoy Empty Net.

Toni Aleo Talks Hockey and Host's a Giveaway

Yes, Toni Fans...She is BACK!!  And I am THRILLED to have her here for another visit!!  Toni is kind enough to not only answer some great questions but she is GIVING AWAY an E-Copy of her NEWEST Release, Trying to Score.  Keep reading past her interview for the Giveaway Question, and my review of Trying to Score.

Let's get started...

A Tasty Read: So Ms. Toni, This Assassians Hockey Series was created how? Where did the idea stem from ?

Toni Aleo: I have always loved hockey. I have been with my husband since we were 14, and I would always go to all his games. I soon fell in love with the sport, but I was told I was a Red Wings fan. So I spent the 13 years as a Red Wings fan, but then my husband started taking me to all the Predators/Red Wings game, and I soon fell in love with #6 Shea Weber. I decided I was done wearing red, and I wanted to wear blue, (its yellow now), my husband wasnt happy about it, but he supported it, and told me about a open practice during the playoffs. I went, and met Shea Weber. It was the most amazing moment of my life, and he was incredible patient with my giggling self. He told me I was cute, and the rest is history. I came home after that, and wrote the first three chapters of Taking Shots. I had started it a long time ago, but it wasnt working and the main hero's name was Rick. It was horrible, but now it is perfect.

A Tasty Read: Can you tell us a bit about your New Release, Trying to Score, the second book in the Assassins Series.

Toni: Get ready for some drama! If you thought Taking Shots was drama filled, you havent seen nothing yet! Fallon and Lucas as so intense, and their sexual chemistry is fierce. They meet when Fallon is young, only 19, and Lucas is 21. Its love at first sight for him, and she soon falls in love with him, but then he betrays her. Fallon heads back to Nashville, and 7 years later, they meet up again. Lucas feels exactly the same way he did before she left and Fallon does too, but she doesnt trust him. Throw in a big twist and things are a little crazy. Everyone has said that this book is better than Taking Shots, and after doing the first edit, I might have to agree. It intense, and perfect. I cant wait for everyone to read it!

A Tasty Read: What are you plans for The Assassians series?

Toni: Well, the next book is called, Empty Net. It is about a goalie and someone from Trying to Score. Then we go into Blue Lines, which I'm pretty sure is going to be awesome, I have so many ideas for that one. It is about a girl that sells everyone Happily Ever After and all she wants is her own, while the hero wants nothing to do with any kind of commitment. Then there is Breaking Away, which will be about a dance teacher and a hockey player. I write Happily Ever Afters. They make me happy. Expect a lot of love, and devilish sexy hockey guys!

A Tasty Read: Is there any other Genre that you would eventually like to write?

Toni: I've dibble dabbled in young adult, but I think I like sex too much....can I say that? lol!

A Tasty Read: Which Author's have been the biggest influence on you as a writer?

Toni: I love Kristin Higgins and Julie James. They are fantastic, and if I can be half of what they are, I would be a happy woman! Then of course, the amazing Susan Elizabeth Phillips. She is the queen of romance in my eyes!

A Tasty Read: Favorite Sports Romance, Aside from your own?

Toni: Susan Elizabeth Phillips' This Heart of Mine and all the Chicago Stars series. I also love, See Jane Score by Rachel Gibson.

A Tasty Read: Toni, it has been a pleasure as always, and I hope you will come back when Empty Nest hits the shelves.

Toni: Thanks for having me!

Giveaway Question: Which is your FAVORITE Sports Romance?

Secrets, Lies and Betrayals....and that's just the first hundred pages

In TRYING TO SCORE by Toni Aleo, we meet single mother, Fallon Parker, who is trying to take the Family Wine Business to the next level, by having wine sold at the Hockey Arena.  Unfortunately for her, she has come face to face with the new player for the Nashville Assassins, Lucas Brooks, the man who "broke her" eight years ago, and she hasn't seen since.

Lucas Brooks is finally fully recovered from his addictions and he is ready to make a new start with the Assassins.  When he sees Fallon Parker again, he knows this is the second chance that he has been waiting for, and he does ANYTHING and EVERYTHING to try and get her back in his life, if only she would let him within five feet of her.

TRYING TO SCORE was a more enjoyable read than TAKING SHOTS, at least for me.  I love a good "secret baby" story and the fact that he did the unthinkable while they were dating, well...that just made it all the better.  I will say that there was a few scenes that could have been removed to make the book shorter, and it still would have been great.  Some things can be said without reiterating it again and again, so I could have done with a little less of the same thing.

Aside from wanting to smack Lucas when he first meets Fallon...and I think you will all agree he needed a slap across his face for that dirty mouth...I did begin to like him as I kept reading and I think I may have even fallen for him by the end.  He became a real man, one that would take care of his family, even Audrey.  I think I might have liked him a little more if he wouldn't have had such a dirty mouth in the beginning.  I mean if you are trying to win back a lady because she was the love of your life, I don't think I'd be talking about sexual positions.

As for her parents and his mother...I didn't really like any of them as secondary characters, and when it comes to Aiden's birthday party and Lucas' mother has a "talk" with Fallon...I think I'd of knocked her out for what she said. It was a bit much and it really made me not like her as a secondary character.  Fallon's father was just an asshole, but we expect that since we learn about him in the beginning of the book.  And Lucas' best friend, Levi, what a DOUCHE....excuse my french, but really...there is NO OTHER WORD to describe him, but douche.  As for Audrey, I really liked her and I hope that she finds her HEA in EMPTY NET.  I liked that Audrey told Fallon when she was being a complete Bitch and that she should let go of the past and see Lucas for who he is now.

As I said, I did enjoy reading this second-chance romance, and I was hoping that the two of them out end up together.  I would definitely recommend you give this author a chance and pick up both of the books in this series, but if you have to buy one, go for TRYING TO SCORE....you will be happy you picked it up.
