HIS KIND OF COWGIRL
Karen Rock
Releasing March 1st, 2016
Harlequin: Heartwarming

Would he still love her…if he knew?

Tanner Hayes smashed Claire's life to pieces when he chose the rodeo over her ten years ago. And now he'd wrecked her truck! Fantastic. She'd lost her husband, the family ranch was mired in debt, her father was recuperating from a stroke and her son was being bullied. Why not throw a reckless bull rider into the mix?

All she'd wanted was a safe, stable life. But with Tanner back in town—and staying on her ranch—nothing was safe, or under control. Not the feelings she'd fought so hard to forget. Not the son she was determined to protect. And certainly not her long-held secret…

Q: How many books do you have published so far?
Karen: His Kind of Cowgirl will be my tenth published novel! Wow- I didn’t even realize that until you asked me

Q: What made you decide to write clean romance?
Karen: I’m a big fan of contemporary romance and when I heard about this line, I knew I wanted to write for it. Harlequin Heartwarming celebrates wholesome, heartfelt relationships infused with the traditional values that are important to me: home, family, community and love. I kind of think of clean romance as the book version of my favorite TV channel: Hallmark.

Q: What helped inspire or influence you to write this book?
Karen: Love and Happily-ever-after always inspires me. In this case, I wanted to write a second chance love story because more and more people are finding that sometimes the timing was off or they weren’t ready for love the first time around and wish they could go back. This story is the chance for two characters, who are at a crossroads in their lives, to do just that.

Q: How long did it take you to write His Kind of Cowgirl?
Karen: I believe I wrote the book in about two months.

Q: I really enjoyed the Camp Boyfriend Series you wrote with Joanne Rock. Do you have plans to write any more YA books?
Karen: We actually have the final story about one of our camp heroes, Seth, coming out in May! We’re super excited about that. We’ve both been busy with adult romance writing, but we have a new YA series we’ve been talking about, so anything is possible!

Q: What is your favorite part of the writing process?
Karen: I love it when I know the characters so well that they practically write their own internal thoughts or dialogue. I stop seeing the book from my eyes, but get to experience it through theirs and that’s a lot of fun!

Q: What does a typical writing day look like for you?
Karen: Because I have a special needs dog (my 14-year-old, Lizzie, is a diabetic) I get up early, around six a.m., to cut up her food, and my new puppy Zoey’s food, and feed them and my cat, Angel. I have breakfast and walk Zoey, hopefully writing by eight. I’ll write until noon, stop for lunch, go on social media, then go back to writing until around four o’clock. If it’s a drafting day, it’s a lot more intensive but if it’s a revising day (I alternate) I can check social media and return emails while I’m working. It’s so hard to resist Facebook and Instagram and Twitter and Tumblr… lol.

Q: What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Karen: I would advise them to stay positive and follow their passion. Write what speaks to you rather than following trends. If you are penning stories you love, it will never feel like work and will be a joy every day of your life.

Q: Did you always want to be an author, or was it something you wanted later on?
Karen: I always wanted to be an author, but I was too afraid to try. Instead I wrote privately but didn’t submit anything for years. I worked as an ultrasound technologist and was a teacher before I finally got up the courage to send out my stories.

Q: Do you have any more books releasing soon?
Karen: I do! I have another Heartwarming novel, UNDER AN ADIRONDACK SKY, releasing in July, 2016 and the first book in my military romance series, NO DEFENSES, releasing in October, 2016. I have three more books coming out after that. Additionally, my sister-in-law and YA co-author, Joanne Rock and I have another camp story to add to our CAMP BOYFRIEND series, CAMP CRUSH, coming out in May, 2016.

Q: What was one of your favorite scenes to write in this book?
Karen: I loved the scene where Claire and Tanner go to the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. That is a huge, annual event out west with some of the biggest country music stars headlining, heart-pounding rodeo, lots of great rides, food, and the cattle competition which, for Claire, was a do or die moment. You’ll have to read to find out what happens.

I’m so glad I got to stop by and meet everyone, Lisa! If you’d like to learn more about me or my upcoming releases, please stop by my website at http://www.karenrock.com Thanks
