Unexpected Eden
The Eden Series # 1
Rhenna Morgan
Released December 29th, 2014
Lyrical / Kensington

Most people believe Eden no longer exists. Lexi Merrill’s about to learn they’re wrong. A hard-working bartender with a self-sufficient backbone and a wary nature, she knows pickup lines like a second language. So, when Eryx Shantos barges into her world with too-smooth words and a body to back it up, she locks up her libido and vows to keep her distance.

Eryx has other ideas. As king of the Myren race, Eryx is duty-bound to enforce the laws preventing exposure of their existence to humans. Yet The Fates have led him through his dreams to Lexi, a temptation he doesn’t want to resist. The question is, is she Myren, or human - which makes her forbidden fruit?

When Eryx’s nemesis tags Lexi as his next target, Eryx insists on taking her home where he can keep her safe. Lexi had no idea “home” would mean the one-and-only land of creation…or that she’d trigger a prophecy that could doom her newfound race.

Hello and thanks for stopping by and visiting with A Tasty Read. It is so nice to have Rhenna Morgan here.

Rhenna, What do you do when you are not writing?

It sounds super lame, but when I’m not writing, keeping my two daughters in line, or spending time with my hubby, I’m reading. I’m a Type A personality through and through, so the mental “disconnect” I get from reading keeps me from going bonky.

Do you ever write in your PJ’s?

I’d live in them if I could! So, yes. Bring on the PJ’s! (Yoga pants make a nice alternative though.) J

If you could have any superpower what would you choose?

Since it’s the superpower that gave me the original idea for The Eden Series, I’m gonna go with telekinesis.

One day while I was shuffling around the kitchen, prepping food for a visiting couple, I actually caught myself trying to levitate a bottle of water from across the room. It was a completely reflexive action—one I realized later was because I’d been dreaming of moving things with my mind.

It got me thinking…what if those dreams were a sign I had powers I hadn’t yet been awakened to? About four days and lots of daydreams later, Lexi’s story was born.

Where is one place in the world that you would really love to visit someday?

I’d give anything to do a Scotland/Ireland/England trip. And as odd as it sounds, I’d love to do it solo. Just meander around quietly and take in all the sites.

One of your favorite quotes –

Be the kind of woman that, when your feet hit the floor each morning, the devil says, “Oh, crap. She’s up.”

What is your favorite gadget?

Kind of depends on how much battery is left.  My go to device right now is my iPhone 6 Plus, with a close 2nd being my iPad mini.

Do you prefer print books or ebooks?

Ebooks. I love, love, love being able to carry my whole library with me. One never knows when the mood for an oldie might strike.

Candles or spray air fresheners?

Candles. Though my old landlord will tell you, wicker candleholders are a bad, bad idea. Long story. It all started with a hot man and the manner in which he distracted me…

What do you collect? Trinkets? Books? Gadgets?

Readers and iPhone/iPad mini cases.
I know, I know! I’m the weirdest person on the planet…

Real sugar or artificial sweetener?

Real sugar, baby!

Coke or Pepsi?

Coke. But not new Coke. That was just a bad idea altogether.

Do you prefer coffee, tea, or hot cocoa?

Coffee.

Regular or decaf?

I do not understand decaf.

Red, or white wine?

Red. Almost always red.

Skittles or M&Ms?

M&M’s. Chocolate always trumps any other sweet.

Besides writing what other artistic talents, do you have?

Through college, and off and on for about ten years afterwards, I sang in either rock or country bands. I rarely croon anymore, but man! Do I have some wild pictures with some serious 80’s hair…

What types of books do you write?

As far as genre goes, either contemporary fantasy romance, or straight contemporary romance—all of it on the hot side. If I had to coin a phrase for overall expectations, I’d say romantic escape. Life’s challenging as hell, so I like to write the kind of books that let you check your brain at the door.

What's the hardest part of the writing process for you?

The first draft. The stories come to me pretty easy, but the discipline it takes to get from the first page to the end is pretty intense.

Who's your favorite Author?

My favorites vacillate a lot depending on my mood, but right now I’d say Kristen Ashley. That woman writes hot heroes like no one’s business.

How long does it take you to write a book?

Plotting, first draft, and all subsequent edits—5 months. The bulk of that is the first draft at about 3 months, during which time my family treats me like a grizzly bear cooped up in a tiny cage. They just sort of throw chocolate at me and hope I don’t escape.

Out of all of your characters, which is your favorite? Why?

So far, Ludan’s my guy. He’s Eryx’s somo (or body guard) and is a pretty tight-lipped fella—which, of course, means he’ll probably fight me tooth and nail when it’s time to put his story on the page. His happily ever after will be the last of the four book series.

What does your family think of your writing?

Some days they’re super supportive, and some days they want to commit me. Hard to blame them. My mood swings while writing, editing, and pitching a book get a little crazy.

For the most part though, they’re my calm point in the middle of it all. And they definitely cheer the loudest with each success.

What does your writing schedule look like?

5am – Get up, do mommy stuff, get dressed and get to work.

7am – Day job.

4pm – Rush home to the kiddos, do mommy stuff, workout (if I can swing it), eat and get everyone showered, then ready for bed.

7pm – Write.

9pm – Read and thank God I made it through the day.

10pm – Pass out.

Do you have any advice for new writers?

Be open. Learn. Surround yourself with quality writers who’ve been successful and who generate a helpful, happy life. Ask them questions and watch what works for them.

But most of all—don’t give up.

Do you use your OWN experiences?

Absolutely. Maybe not the actual event, but definitely the emotions I experience. For me, emotion is what makes a story. It’s what pulls me in and makes it so I don’t want to put a book down.

What are you working on now?

Book two in The Eden Series, Healing Eden, is off to the editor and is slated for release in winter of 2015. I just finished the first draft of book three, Waking Eden, and am about to tackle the final installment, Eden’s Deliverance. In between all of that, I’m starting my new Haven series—a gritty contemporary featuring men who know what they want and aren’t afraid to break the rules to get it.

What do you hope readers will take away from your books?

I hope they enjoy the ride. That they turn the last page with a tiny, satisfied sigh. If I’ve helped them disconnect from reality for a bit and they enjoyed the characters, I’ve done my job.

Thank you so much for taking time to chat with me today Rhenna Morgan. It's been a pleasure having you and I wish you much success in the future.

Absolutely! And thanks for helping me share my new release! Hope to see you all soon in paradise!

Love,
Rhenna

Rhenna Morgan writes for the same reason she reads—to escape reality.

Yes, her life rocks—two beautiful little girls, a great husband, a steady job, and the kind of friends that would take you out back if you hurt her. But, like most women, she’s got obligations stacked tight from dusk to dawn. So, when the world gets her down, she slips into something…less realistic.

Romance is a must. So is a steamy romp (or four). Nothing thrills her more than the fantasy of new, exciting worlds, strong, intuitive men, and the sigh of, “Oh if only that could happen to me.”

So, if you’re picking up one of her books, expect portals into alternate realms and men who’ll fight to keep the women they want. Romantic escape for the women who need it.
