The men in
Texas are hard to resist . . . Seattle event planner Allison Lane is an expert
at delivering the perfect wedding—even if she might not exactly believe in the
whole "'til death do us part" thing. When her father decides to tie
the knot with a woman he barely knows, Allison heads to Sweet, Texas, to make
sure his new honey is the real deal. What she didn't expect to find at the
local honky-tonk was a sexy Southern man as bent on charming her pants off as
he is on blowing her "true love doesn't exist" theory all to hell.
And they always promise . . .
Veterinarian, former Marine, and Sweet's favorite playboy Jesse Wilder takes one look at Allison and knows she's a handful of trouble he can't deny. But even after a sizzling kiss and obvious mutual attraction, it seems Allison has no such problem. When Jesse uncovers her sweet side, can he crush his playboy image, melt her cynical heart, and change her mind about taking a trip down the aisle?

Name: Jesse James Wilder
Age: 33
Occupation: Former Marine now a veterinarian/rancher
Physical Description:
I don’t suppose yummy would suffice?
Okay, let’s get down to the yummy deets then. Jesse is a long, tall, muscular
Texas drink of water standing at 6 ft. 2 in. with dark blond hair long enough
to pull back in a ponytail AKA Chris Hemsworth. His eyes are baby blue and they
can usually cut right though all the BS his brothers spout on a regular basis.
Likes:
Women. Especially those who give as good as they get.
Dislikes:
Keeping secrets
Relationship Status:
Off the market
Typical Friday Night:
Hanging with the bros and trying not
to get sucked into their stupid competitiveness. Sipping an ice-cold ale while relaxing
in his hot tub. Finding new ways to make Allison moan.
Drink of Choice:
Shiner Bock ale.
Favorite Food:
From Bud’s Nothing Finer Diner — a mushroom
burger dripping with melted cheese and a stack of sweet potato fries. Or ice
cream licked off Allison’s hot little body. Yeah. Probably that would be his
first choice.
Favorite Song:
Who Are You When
I’m Not Looking?
By Blake Shelton
Choice of Transportation:
Black Chevy Silverado
Boxers or Briefs:
Boxer-briefs, of course.
Best Memory to Date:
Sitting in an old movie theater watching
The Notebook with Allison and
watching her lick the melted butter off her fingers. Then discovering he was
crazy in love with her while she was bawling her eyes out and wiping her nose
on his shirt. Or . . . escaping eighty-year-olds Gladys and Arlene’s intent to
get him drunk and take advantage of him.
Words to live by:
Never doubt that falling in love at first
sight is totally possible.
First, I need to start this review out by saying how HONORED, and SPECIAL I feel that the amazing Candis Terry dedicated SOMETHING SWEETER to me! Yes...Stalker Fan Extraordinaire...That's me!!
I found Candis Terry, a debut author through a Facebook post from Rachel Gibson, who was promoting the SECOND CHANCE AT THE SUGAR SHACK, the first Avon Impulse release that Candis published. I asked her if she imagined Jake Ryan (from Sixteen Candles) as Matt Ryan, hero from SCATSS, and she...well...I'll just keep that between us.
From that moment on, a friendship was made...and she even honored me with her presence at Tasty Authors Weekend 2014, which I hosted here in Wilmington, as a Keynote Speaker, and I can't tell you how much it meant to me to have her here!! (and I had a fantastic lunch with her, Jennifer Bernard and my fabulous Mother-in-law....such a blast!)
(Joanne Rock, Me and Candis Terry)
Let me just end this rant by saying...Yes...I have offered to let her adopt me...and Yes...I told her she can be my daughter's Mimi...and yes...I think she is one of the best people that I have had the pleasure to call a friend. Ok...On to my review!!
These Wilder brother's just keep getting BETTER and BETTER!! Jesse...what can I say...sexy and sincere with a HUGE heart...he captivates and completely steals the show in SOMETHING SWEETER. From that wicked smile down to his spurs...OH MOMMA!!
And Allison was pretty awesome too. Candis knew she had to give Jesse someone special, and I say she gave him exactly what he deserved. Even being a romance cynic, she couldn't help but lick...I mean LIKE Jesse and his special brand of "Lessons in Romance".
Candis Terry writes about that deep love that we are all searching for, with Jesse and Allison, she makes you believe in true love.
If you love a romance series with Big Heart, you need to read the "Sweet" series by Candis Terry. You won't want to miss the fall of the Big and Bad Wilder Brothers!!
Candis
Terry was born and raised near the sunny beaches of Southern California and now
makes her home on an Idaho farm. She’s experienced life in such diverse ways as
working in a Hollywood recording studio to chasing down wayward steers. Only
one thing has remained the same: her passion for writing stories about
relationships, the push and pull in the search for love, and the security one
finds in their own happily ever after.
