Inspired by
Grimm’s fairy tales, Lex Keating takes a contemporary, quirky twist on the old
legend of The Seven Swans, removing the magic, and adding memorable characters.
Once upon a time – better known as “now” - Gabriel Pritz reigns as king of his high school. Easy grades, perfect baseball season, a pretty date for prom—he's coasting into a golden future. Until his parents demand he cook dinner once a week. Caught between kitchen fires and ballpark withdrawal, Gabe is thrown into Tam Swann's orbit. Hostile, friendless, and stubborn, she's exactly the sort of person he'd prefer to avoid.
Tam's sphere of influence expands beyond Gabe's sad domestic skills, rapidly invading everything from his favorite game to parts of his soul he didn't know existed. It's uncomfortable, it's hard work, it's...making him a better man. And that's just what she does to people she doesn't like. The better he gets to know her, the more he has to face the truth: this sharp, heart-breaking outcast is worth fighting for. How many families, fairy tales, and felons will he go through to ride to the rescue of the bravest person he's ever met?

A sweet YA Romance that will have you taking a good look at your life and thanking the Lord that you have what you have, and wishing there was more that you could do for those children who have no one.
THE SILENT SWAN is from the Point of View of Gabe, high school senior (I think), with a loving family, four brothers and a crush on popular girl, Kerry (Steve, you have to read to understand). Your basic H.S. Jock, but is he? Is there more to Gabe than comes across, or is it Tam, our heroine, who brings out the best in Gabe, a Gabe he never knew he could be.
Tam, is the oldest sister of six brothers, whom are all in foster care, and she is trying to get them under her guardianship, which is why she works her butt off, attends school, and does anything she can to spend time with her brothers. She is strong, noble, and tough to the bone, but she is also fragile in a way that not many get to see.
This story is inspiring, and a lovely story about Family, and what it means to BE a family.
