Let's get this Blog Tour Started.....Take the Floor, D.T.

A great big HELLO to A Tasty Read and all of its followers! I’m super pumped to be kicking off my first ever Virtual Book Tour in such a…mmm…mmm…mmm…tasty place! J

I’ve been asked to address the tasty topic of whether I would prefer to be a Guardian or a Seer, along with what a typical day would be like for that person. So here we go…

The abilities of a Seer are inherently attached to the XX chromosome. Therefore, only females possess the potential to be a Seer. On the opposite end of the genetic spectrum, Guardian abilities are attached to the Y chromosome thereby limiting Guardian powers to males. Bearing that in mind, I think I would prefer to be a Guardian. Why? Because they are the bad asses of the bunch! They have superior speed, strength, etc. Think Superman minus the flying ability and vulnerability to Kryptonite. How much fun would that be?

However, there is the training. Once they begin developing their powers after puberty, Guardians steadily gain strength, stamina and physical bulk. I think Stan Lee put it best in his Spiderman comics with the quote…”With great power comes great responsibility.” So, Guardians must constantly discipline themselves and hone their skills through training.

A Seer doesn’t need to train. She basically sits around waiting to see an event. But, when she does, it can be pretty physically taxing. I compare Seers with the type of brain-iacs that have an answer to everything but can’t keep up in gym class. One could argue that brains are better than brawn, to which, I concur.

Yet, Guardians are not ‘all brawn and no brains’. Typically, they’re like most people in that some are smarter than others. So, intelligence really doesn’t factor into my choice. I just think it would be cool to lay some major smack down on an alien interloper showing up to threaten our world.

Additionally, once a Guardian has fully developed his powers with the completion of his rudimentary training (remember, they will continue to constantly train) he is assigned to watch over a specific Seer. Not only responsible for guarding our world, Guardians must protect the ones who can see all possible threats. (In ‘Enemy Through The Gates’, Bryn is assigned as the future Guardian of his best friend and Seer, P.J.)  So basically, the daily life of a Guardian is pretty simple; protect your world and protect your Seer.

Hmmm…then again, the more I think about it, I’d rather be a Seer with a super-hot Guardian assigned to watch over me. Yep, that sounds like a much tastier recipe! J

D.T., after reading the book, I completely agree with wanting to be a Seer with a handsome, strong Guardian waiting to protect me!!

Enemy Through the Gates

P. J. Stone, like most eighteen-year-old girls, is a little boy crazy and somewhat obsessed with finding the perfect boyfriend. Some days she feels like she might be the last remaining virgin in her entire high school, and maybe even the entire tri-state area.

After a traumatic night at a friend’s party, P. J. realizes what she truly wants has been right under her nose all along. Bryn O’Bannon, her best friend and partner in crime since age five, is head over heels in love with her, and she feels the same about him.

But P. J.’s life isn’t that simple. She’s a member of a separate society that exists secretly among the rest of the world; the society raises gifted individuals to protect the world from interdimensional interlopers, and P. J. was taught to put duty before her heart. She is expected to choose a suitable mate in order to perpetuate the Seer line. Unfortunately, Bryn is a Guardian and is forbidden to date—let alone mate with—a Seer such as herself.

As if figuring out her love life isn’t complicated enough, P. J. begins having visions of a threat to her world only she is able to perceive. Now, she must concoct and execute a plan to avert world disaster while at the same time avoiding the dissolution of her love life.

I must say that I certainly enjoyed this read, and will be needed the second in the series, like....Yesterday!!  I am left with many questions and I would like them answered, so please D.T.....get this next book published so I can find out what happens to P.J. and Bryn, as well as Kohl, Jeremy, Jenna, Macon and the families they are trying to save.
And I would just like to add that I hope Ms. Black Dragon trying to stake a claim on my man, does NOT come back into the story, or I may have a big problem with her.  Ehem...Sorry...I know you can't throw down with a literary character, but If you could...I so would!!
The above blurb doesn't do justice to the story you will find when you open the pages of Enemy.  You get this, and SO MUCH MORE.  Reminded me slightly of Matched, but only because I was so invested in Bryn and P.J's relationship.

And just as suddenly as it had begun, the kiss ended. Bryn stood quickly, leaving me on the ground to stare up at him in a daze. He swore under his breath, turning away from me to run his hands through his hair. “That shouldn’t have happened.” His voice broke an octave lower than normal, causing my stomach to do a little flip-flop.

“Bryn.” His name, carrying an unsaid plea, felt new and unfamiliar on my tongue. I wanted his lips on me again, so much so that me being almost raped didn’t even seem relevant anymore. “Bryn,” I said again, bringing the fingertips of my hand to touch my lips, imagining his were still locked with mine.

Bryn turned back towards me, acknowledging my silent plea with wide eyes. Tension was etched into every line on his face. “You’re drunk, and that shouldn’t have happened.”

Maybe I was buzzed, but not drunk. And for the life of me I couldn’t remember why kissing Bryn was such a bad idea. I’d never imagined kissing someone could feel so—right. So there was no reason why it shouldn’t have happened or why it shouldn’t happen again. “Why?” I whispered. “Why shouldn’t it have happened? I want—I want you to kiss me again.”

But I will give a slight warning to any parents of teenagers who might want to read this book, it is an OLDER YA, so be warned that their is sex in this book, they are 18 years of age, but still be warned that some of the scenes are not graphic, but a bit more than I would want my fourteen year old reading.
It is great for adults who enjoy a great paranormal read, and the love quadrangle was KILLING ME....No like seriously...KILLING ME.  I just wanted her to be with Bryn and for them to live HEA....but I guess we will have to see about that...UGH!
I don't want to give to much away, but I will give A Tasty Stamp of Approval on this one and say give it a shot.  I didn't think it would be my cup of tea at first, but now I am HOOKED!!
Thanks D.T. for allowing me to read and review your masterpiece!!  I truly enjoyed it!!
And DON'T FORGET TO LEAVE A COMMENT...Maybe share with us which you would rather be, A Seer or A Guardian??

I actually like the idea of being a Guardian. Maybe it's my maternal instincts kicking in.

Either way, I am looking forward to this tour for ENEMY THROUGH THE GATES. It's off to a very interesting beginning.

You are a new-to-me author and I believe I will enjoy following you around on your blog book tour. I really like tours such as this because it allows me to become acquainted with authors I would never find otherwise.

Now a question for you: Does the writer pick the genre or does the genre pick the writer? What do you think?

Thank you so much Karen for taking an interest in my tour! I hope I won't disappoint!

As for your question: I'm sure it's a different experience for every writer, but for me the genre definitely picked me. When inspirations hits, it's best to just roll with it. I actually address your topic in more detail on one of my other blog tour stops so I don't want to spoil it. But since you plan on staying tuned into the tour it shouldn't be too much trouble for you to wait...I hope. :)

I would totally be a seer. I'd probably be feigning visions all the time just to get some extra TLC from my guardian...

I'm hoooked. Gotta get this one, sounds tasty...I'm all for a scandelous young adult read!

If your a mother you are most like a Guardian, what can I say.

Jaye- I like where you're going with that line of thought. Now why didn't P.J. think of that? hehe

And Deb- I agree. A Guardian puts their Seer ahead of themselves and protects them at all costs...much like a mother would. Or well...a good mother anyways.

Thank you both for stopping by and commenting! :)

Oh or whoops...for some reason...Renald I saw Deb at the end of your comment and mis-addressed you. Sorry!

I'd like to be a Seer...but a Seer who trains with her Guardian. I wouldn't want to be a damsel in distress just waiting for my Guardian to defend me...I'd want to jump in and help fight the good fight.

Great Review, Tasty Read.

P.J. often feels her powers mirror her state in life as a perpetual spectator, and she's not a fan. She wants to enter into the foray and to stop depending as much as she does on the people who are hell bent on keeping her from any kind of fight. There will be lots of character growth in the next two books so I'm thinking with P.J.'s tenacity she just might get her way yet. Thanks for commenting! :)
