A Tasty Read: Erin, so excited to have you at A Tasty Read, as a fan of your Adult Romances, I am so happy that you decided to go NA with The True Believers Series (And not just cause I am CRAZY about the Mann Brothers)

Erin: Thanks!  I am loving writing these books.

ATR: Speaking of the Mann Brothers, I can't decide who I am in more Fictional Love With Tyler or Riley, do you have a preference?

Erin: Of course I adore them both for different reasons, but knowing myself, I would love to hang out with Riley, but I don’t think I could date him.  Confession: I don’t really like to be teased by a significant other.  When I’m ticked off at you, if you try to “joke” yourself out of it, it gets ugly. Lol.  I have a male friend very much like Riley and we get along fabulously because I’m not emotionally invested.  So for me personally, Tyler is more my style, because even though Riley is probably more honest and direct, Tyler is more serious.

ATR: Where did the idea for the series come from?  What made you stray into the NA Territory?

Erin: I have no idea where the idea came from.  Seriously.  There are very few books I’ve written that I can say where the idea actually originated.  But I would never have ventured into NA territory if my editor hadn’t suggested it, so thanks, Cindy!

ATR: SWEET is the newest book in the series, and that is Jessica's book, who you will meet if you read TRUE.  Did you start out TRUE knowing what you had planned for Jessica, or did it unfold as you wrote TRUE?

Erin: I had no idea what was in store for Jessica.  While Rory and Tyler were strong in my head when I started writing, the other characters were not.  It wasn’t until about halfway through TRUE that I really started to see who Jessica and Kylie were.  The Mann brothers made sense to me right away, but the girls developed more slowly.  But once I saw more of who Jessica was, I knew she belonged with Riley.  They’re both very strong personalities.

ATR: How many books do you have planned for the series?  I know we have TRUE (Rory/Tyler), SWEET (Jessica/Riley) and BELIEVE is coming in January which will be Robin and Phoenix (Yum), I am just hoping we will see Kylie again?????

Erin: There are four books in the series and YES, Kylie will be book four, out in June 2014!  She will be going through serious changes as she deals with the ramifications of what happens in BELIEVE.  And then the final book ends with a wedding, though I’m not saying whose it is. ;-)

ATR: Do you find it easier to write about characters in their 20's (NA) or characters in their 30's (Adult)?  Obviously the sex is scaled down, but do you find other differences?

Erin: I find it really easy to write about younger characters because their emotions are so close to the surface.  Usually they are impulsive too, and I find that easy to tap into.  They make mistakes, and we forgive them.  Whereas with older heroines we expect her to have it more together, which sometimes is a challenge.  Because the older I get, the more I realize no one ever really has it totally together.  Except maybe for Betty White.  I think she’s figured out what is what.

ATR: Do you want to talk about any other New Releases that you have coming out?  (I am a HUGE fan of the Fast Track Series)

Erin: Thanks!  FULL THROTTLE, book 7 in the series, is out in December, and this is Nolan Ford’s little brother, Rhett, who has a thing for fetish clubs and older women and is a very naughty hero.  Then in September 2014, book 8 (I can’t believe it!) will be out.  This is the last Fast Track book.  I have said this before, but I mean it this time. For real.  Pinky swear.  Book Eight will feature a friend of Eve Monroe and Shawn Hamby who we meet in FULL THROTTLE.  We never actually met the hero but he was mentioned in SLOW RIDE.  I’m going to be super sad to let go of my race car drivers.  It’s been a fun, ahem, ride. (Had to go for the pun!)

ATR: Thank you so much for stopping by today and talking with A Tasty Read about your New Release SWEET, and The True Believers Series.

Erin: Thanks for having me!  I hope you enjoy SWEET and the rest of series! J

Um....So Erin had NO issues with sophomore slump with SWEET, it was fantastic, and just as fabulous as TRUE, book one in the True Believers Series.

SWEET is the romance between Riley Mann, Tyler's (hero of book one) older brother, who is juts trying to bust his butt to keep his brothers all together in a home that is behind on payments, and to keep his younger brothers from being thrown into foster care.  Besides being sexy and honorable, he is cocky and sarcastic and LOVES to tease Ms. Sweet (Jess), who you meet in Book One, TRUE, a roommate of Rory's.

Jessica is so much more that you might think from getting to know her in TRUE.  She is a bit wild, a girl who enjoys casual sex and yes, she is the Preacher's Daughter....who would have thought.  But, underneath all that facade, and superficial crap, Jess Sweet has a HUGE heart and really just wants to be seen for who she is and not be judged by what she has done.

Riley and Jess are explosive together, but they complete something in each other that you don't come across every day, and it's the HOLDING ON to that, that these two have issues with, but I think they finally figure it out.

There are some scenes that are completely hysterical, and some that are so romantic, and made my heart squeeze, and some scenes where I wanted to yell "NOOOOOOOO", but in the end,  you will be doing a little cheer and letting out a heartfelt sigh....

Fabulous, Fun and Captures you heart....Well...It's the Mann brothers who do most of the heart stealing, but once you get to know them, you won't mind giving it up!!

Um...Tyler Mann...HELLO...Maybe one of my MOST LOVED NA Heroes....I wanted to keep him for myself, but Rory is pretty friggin great!

When Rory Macintosh’s roommates find out that their studious and shy friend has never been with a guy, they decide that, as an act of kindness they’ll help her lose her virginity by hiring confident, tattooed bad boy Tyler Mann to do the job…unbeknownst to Rory.

Tyler knows he’s not good enough for Rory. She’s smart, doctor smart, while he’s barely scraping by at his EMT program, hoping to pull his younger brothers out of the hell their druggy mother has left them in. But he can’t resist taking up her roommates on an opportunity to get to know her better. There’s something about her honesty that keeps him coming back when he knows he shouldn’t…

Torn between common sense and desire, the two find themselves caught up in a passionate relationship. But when Tyler’s broken family threatens to destroy his future, and hers, Rory will need to decide whether to cut her ties to his risky world or follow her heart, no matter what the cost…

I am So So So happy that I found this New Adult Series by Erin McCarthy.  A huge fan of Erin from her Adult Romances, I was shocked to see that she was venturing off into New Adult territory, and when I finished TRUE, I knew this was a place where she belonged.

TRUE was beyond wonderful, it was innocent, sexy, exciting in that New Love kind of way, butterflies and all, and Tyler Mann stole my heart, and I think he is still holding onto it for a while.  Rory was a fabulous heroine.  Sometimes you find a virgin heroine who can come off as annoying, and kinda whiny, but Rory was just the coolest.  She was funny, and shy, and was no-pushover.  She had her feelings hurt, was falling for a guy who had been hooking up with her friend, and I am not even going to talk about the $100.00 pay off.

TRUE was so much more than I thought, with the Mann Brothers taking stage and owning it, and becoming truly one of my favorite "Fictional Families" ever.

I can't say enough about TRUE, but if you must buy ONE book this month, this year, get TRUE, you won't be sorry you did.  I have already read it five times and I know I will read it a hundred more!  I laughed, I cried, I LOVED!!

VERY SLOW....RIDE

Slow Ride
Fast Track #5
Erin McCarthy
Released Oct 5th, 2011
304 Pages
Berkley

Was this book written by someone other than Erin McCarthy??  The first chapter or two was cute and was setting up to be a really great story.  And then it juts went downhill...at least for me.

The dialogue between Diesel and Tuesday was just weird...it wasn't sexy...it was just weird.  And the dialogue between Diesel and everyone else was weird...He had NO voice, or he said things that I didn't think a guy like him would say...and his guy friends sounded like girls!!

For someone who LOVED the whole series so far, I was SOOOOOO disappointed with Slow Ride.  There was no REAL conflict....she drank too much (which made me like her less...she seemed like a real bitch) and he was just blah.  And for me to have NO CONNECTION to either of the characters is huge...I love romance and can normally find the best in all books...but this one...I skimmed through the last 35% of the Kindle Book.

The best part of the book was seeing Ryder and Suzanne interact with their baby.  They seemed really happy.  And all the Evan/Kendall crap with Sara and the maybe, baby...was so unnecessary.
All in all...this book was a mumble/jumble of BLAH!!

I want Erin McCarthy back.....I hope she comes back before the release of Eve's book!!
