Tasty Review Tour for EMBRACING SCANDAL by Suzi Love & Giveaway

After Lady Rebecca Jamison, a mathematical genius, saves her family from financial ruin by secretly investing in railway stocks on the London stock exchange, a greedy syndicate, desperate for Becca’s calculations and predictions, murders her friend and threatens the Jamison family, forcing Becca to beg assistance from her childhood friend, Cayle St. Martin.

The newly titled Duke of Sherwyn has returned to London after five years on the continent extending his family’s shipping interests. He’s shunned his privileged London life and his father’s unbending attitudes, and becomes committed to employing the spying tactics he learned on the continent to help Becca indict the syndicate—and using his skills as a lover to seduce her into his bed.
But how will Cayle be able to convince Becca, a determinedly self-sufficient spinster, that he can be more to her than just a protector?

*Excerpt*
Lady Rebecca Jamison watched Cayle. Under the rules of etiquette, she must remember to address him as Your Grace or Sherwyn in public, despite knowing he’d abhorred the bowing and scraping expected by dukes, including his father.
Becca tried to judge his level of inebriation and his reaction to her news, though she was wise enough to stay out of arm’s reach. In the past, her knight in shining armour had constantly overreacted if he thought her adventures, or misadventures, placed her in harm’s way.

“Please, my dear.” The new duke's fists unfurled as he flung his arms wide in a dramatic gesture. “Go ahead and clarify that terrifying statement.” His voice lifted another octave.“Before my hair turns completely white. Or my legs give out.”

Neither Cayle’s fury nor his towering size frightened Becca. But she was terrified that the city would awaken and the streets fill with people before he became calm and rational and listened to her plea for his help in collecting the final proof that would send at least a dozen of their peers to prison for illegal trading practices.

"Or even worse.” He voice was a low snarl as he pointed at the floor. “I misplace the contents of my heaving stomach all over the duchess’s prized carpet.”

Becca winced. For the tenth time she listed to herself the reasons she’d bravely bearded this particular panther in his lair.

To protect her family.

To secure the nest eggs saved by the fallen women at the shelter.

To save her own life.

As the new Duke of Sherwyn, Cayle was her best, or possibly only, chance to do all that and to keep her promise to Scotland Yard. She hoped he’d listen with an open mind. Hoped he’d comprehend how much danger her family and friends were in without realising how close she had come to also being murdered.

“I’d gone to Peggy’s cottage to collect some letters she’d written on behalf of our Women’s Society. The door was ajar. I knocked but Peggy didn’t answer so I went inside.”

Peggy had been sprawled across the floor, her sturdy legs protruding at odd angles from her yellowing nightgown. Her hair had been matted with blood and tangled in the strings of her dislodged nightcap and her plait had been a rusty red mess instead of a neat tail of plain brown.

“I can’t sleep. Every time I close my eyes, I see the murderer standing over Peggy’s battered body. But he runs towards me. Not away.” She shuddered and closed her eyes.

Fingers brushed her cheek. “Becca, I’ll not let anyone harm you.”

“If I’d only arrived at Peggy’s cottage a few minutes earlier.”

“Stop it. You mustn’t blame yourself.”

“How can I not? One life has already been destroyed because of me. My friend was killed. Her body discarded like a tattered rag doll.”

His bloodshot gaze narrowed on her face. “So, knowing how your mind works, you’ll try to focus the consortium on yourself, and thereby keep everyone else out of danger.” He raised a brow. “Am I correct?”

Damned man was still a mind reading menace. “You’re wrong. I’ve little wish to confront those men by myself. But neither will I allow anyone else to be hurt.”

“And who protects you from the current set of fire–breathing dragons?”

She raised her chin. “I’ve outgrown such childishness.” She lowered herself to the closest settee, a demonstration of ladylike maturity and a reprieve for her trembling knees.

The romance between Cayle and Becca just darn broke my heart. Well, yes, they do get their HEA, but, Suzi Love wrote a romance that sucked me in from the start and didn't let me go until the last page. I was utterly enraptured by Becca and Cayle and their world of chaos.

"While I appreciate the noble gesture, Cayle, it's just that, a gesture.  An empty one at best.  And one which I have no hesitation in refusing."

From page one of Embracing Scandal by Suzi Love, you are in love with Cayle.  If bad boys are your thing, then you will LOVE Cayle.  He has all the qualities I love in a hero, protective nature, killer smile and a terrible flirt, which is exactly what caught Becca Jamison, one of the Jamison sisters, in the first place.

Becca is a heroine you will find yourself wishing you could step in her shoes.  She was strong, outspoken and a little bit on the wild side.  Any girl who knows how to shoot is ok in my book.  I loved being able to get into her head.  Suzi did an amazing job at keeping the reader on edge with the suspense, but also had me waiting for that next shared kiss, or wild romp between Cayle and Becca...cause they sure lit up the sheets!

I am not a huge fan of Historical Romance, as some of you may know, but I do have a few authors who are able to transport me to England in the 1800's just by using words to describe a place or a scene, and Suzi Love has made her way onto my list.  The descriptions are spot on, almost like you can image it right there in front of you.

Embracing Scandal was fast paced, sexy and will tug at your heartstrings!

I highly recommend Embracing Scandal to All my Tasty Readers, Historical Fans or Not.  Everyone will fall for Becca and Cayle.

About Suzi
Suzi Love lives in a sunny part of Australia and loves to travel - anywhere and everywhere.
Her romances, ranging from sexy to erotic, are set in Britain, Australia, and the South Pacific, while her historical romances take place during her beloved late Regency to very early Victorian years. Best of all, Suzi loves exploring the many-layered and ever-changing aspects of society from the end of the Regency through to Queen Victoria's very early reign.
Her titled heroes and heroines may appear to live privileged lives in and around London, but these strong characters challenge traditional manners, morals, and occupations, either through necessity or desire, and expose the seamier sides of tonnish life. Though Suzi's books often have a grittier side, she tries to make history fun, one year at a time.
Apart from writing and reading, her favorite thing is traveling. She loves to visit historically famous places and speak with fascinating people and uses her research in her vivid and romantic books.

Embracing Scandal Book Tour: Guest Post with Suzi Love & Giveaway

A Tasty Read is honored to have Suzi Love here today talking about the "fun" in historical research for her new series about The Jamison's.  The first book in the series is EMBRACING SCANDAL, which is touring right now with Tasty Book Tours.  Don't forget to read Suzi's post to the end, where she is hosting a giveaway of FIVE digital copies of EMBRACING SCANDAL.

Without further ado....Suzi Love

Embracing Scandal is the first in my series about the scientifically-gifted Jamison siblings and is set in London in the 1840s when there was a boom in railway expansion.

I loved writing about Lady Rebecca Jamison because she is a strong, intelligent, and determined heroine who is desperately trying to save her family from financial ruin by secretly investing in the share market. Becca uses her mathematical skills to predict where the next big expansion in railway lines would be, and which factories making steam engines and railway machinery looked the most profitable.

At the time, women from the upper ranks of society were strongly discouraged from doing anything practical with their intellect and were expected to do nothing more than visit friends, hold teas, and keep house for their husbands or male relatives.

Being a 'bluestocking', basically a lady who dared to read books, was frowned upon and those ladies were told they would never find a husband as men liked their wives to be simpering and obedient rather than thinking and articulate. Most men would never select a wife who may know more than him in anything other than running his home.

This meant that Becca had to hide what she was doing or risk censure from the increasingly prudish rules of behavior being encouraged by both their young queen, Queen Victoria, and her German husband, Prince Albert.

One of the best things about being an historical romance author is doing all the research, and I loved reading about the massive number of steam engines and other inventions that went hand in hand with building and launching the new steam trains.

Plus, I could dress Becca and her sisters in the latest fashions because Becca's new-found wealth meant new wardrobes for she and her sisters and extra money and gifts for her younger brothers who were studying hard at Oxford.

Oh, my goodness. Some of the jewelry and accessories of the time are to die for. Despite being hard work being a woman, there were certainly some benefits, especially if you married a rich duke who paid all your dressmaking bills and gave you a large allowance, or pin money as it was called.

And my hero, Cayle, is the Duke of Sherwyn and is rather yummy and looks gorgeous in his early Victorian finery.

So what do you think? Would you like to have been a titled lady in an era when she was expected to do nothing more than shop for new gowns, gloves, and fripperies? Or perhaps pay visits to acquaintances for the 15 minutes dictated by society as the 'proper' amount of time to spend in another's home?

Or would the strictures upon young ladies who were chaperoned everywhere have driven you mad in a week?

To think of all those layers...all I can say is I am glad I am allowed to wear jeans!!

LUCKY CHARM EXCERPT TOUR & GIVEAWAY

Twenty-eight-year old Annabel Green is about to tie the knot with her college love, an aspiring author Jeremy Blake, but her plans for an ideal wedding are rudely interrupted when she catches Jeremy kissing his gorgeous book agent.

Shell-shocked by Jeremy’s betrayal, Annabel retreats into the quiet routine of TV dinners and solitary evenings. It is then that Annabel’s best friend, fashion designer Lilly Clayton, sets herself on a mission to draw Annabel out of her shell. In an attempt to persuade Annabel to keep an open mind on dating, Lilly takes Annabel for a stunning makeover, but after Annabel passes on a date with a dashing entrepreneur, Lilly decides that more drastic measures are needed. Lilly invites Annabel to see a palm reader who gives Annabel a lucky charm that is supposed to help her find true love.

A few weeks later, Annabel meets a new love interest, and as the two embark on a whirlwind romance, she starts to believe in the power of the talisman the palm reader has given her. But what Annabel doesn’t know is that Lilly is hiding a secret that could unravel her faith in her newly found luck in love.

Etienne arrived promptly at ten in the morning, as he had promised the day before, and Annabel rushed to meet him downstairs.
“Good morning.” He flashed her a bright smile, the dark brown of his eyes meeting her gaze.
“Hi.” She blushed at the thought of how glad she was to see him. He looked even more handsome today, dressed in a casual outfit of khaki pants, hiking boots, and a polo shirt that showed off the taut muscles of his arms and chest.
“Let me get the door for you.” He rushed to the passenger side of his bright red convertible Porsche.
Annabel slid into the black leather seat. She had never been inside a Porsche before. From her seat, she could sense the faint smell of Etienne’s cologne - a strong, masculine scent that made her pulse quicken.
“Let’s hope we are lucky with traffic.” Etienne pressed on the clutch, and the car zoomed down the street.
For a few minutes, Annabel leaned back in terrified stupor as she watched Etienne navigate the Porsche at what seemed to her a crazy speed, but when she saw how expertly he switched gears, maneuvering the car between the tiny city streets, she relaxed.
“I had a great time yesterday.” Etienne’s glance lingered on her.
“So did I,” she admitted, hoping he would not be able to deduce from her voice just how much she had enjoyed her time with him.
The traffic light turned green and Etienne pressed on the accelerator, forcing himself to focus his attention on the road, which was easier said than done with Annabel sitting beside him. The tantalizing scent of her perfume tickled his nose, making him want to lean in and plant a long, passionate kiss on her strawberry lips and her long, beautiful neck. She looked positively ravishing today. He thought she had looked great yesterday in that flowing silk dress that she wore, but today she was dressed in denim shorts that rose all the way to her upper thighs and a ribbed T-shirt that fitted tightly over the curves of her breasts – a view that Etienne found more than welcome. Again, he forced himself to focus on the road. He could not remember the last time he had been this attracted to a girl. There had been a string of women since the split with Amanda, but although they were all attractive, none of them stood out in his mind. Annabel was different: not only was she a stunner to look at, but she was also interesting to talk to – a quality that Etienne knew firsthand was a rare find in a woman, at least in the kind of women that he always seemed to end up dating.

CRIMSON AND CLOVER @Tastybooktours

Under Katie Scott’s flower child exterior beats the heart of June Cleaver. Though she digs her bellbottoms and love beads, she longs for the idyllic family life she was denied as a child.

Laughed out of San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury after the Summer of Love for believing rock ’n roll and white picket fences can coexist she decides to try her luck in the bohemian neighborhood of Ladbroke Grove in London.

When she discovers her new friend Adam is starting a band with Jay Carey, she’s ecstatic. She’d admired the British guitar god from afar for years, and when she and Jay finally meet the attraction between them is instantaneous.

But life with a rock ’n roll star doesn’t lend itself well to white picket fences. And when Katie tells Jay the secret she’s carried for two years it may end the dream before it begins.

Excerpt

She weaved through the crowd, trying to remember names, when she spied a familiar face. What with the sheer number of people who had been in and out of the flat all night, Katie hadn’t even known Stuart was present, and she greeted him with pleasure. His unaffected Texas drawl was balm to her ears, much as she loved British accents.

“Hey, you!” She gave Stuart a warm hug. “When did you get here?”

“Been here a while, hon.” Stuart kissed her forehead and released her. “’Course, it’s a little tight in here, if you know what I mean.”

“No kiddin’.” Just two sentences of Stuart’s accent and she was already dropping her "g"s. Katie grinned. “Talk some more. I wanna hear some lingo.”

“Right on,” Stuart laughed. “Lemme see…how’s this?” He cleared his throat and turned the Texas up to full throttle. “Y’all…hot damn…cornbread.”

Katie burst into giggles, her amusement aided by the half of a joint she’d just smoked.

“What’s funny?” Maureen appeared at her side, cheeks flushed and an unnatural sparkle in her eye.

“Just Stuart,” Katie replied, her giggles tapering off.

“I should’ve known.” Maureen tossed Stuart a grin before turning halfway to speak to someone behind her. “Jay, have you met Katie?”

The name made Katie look up and her breath stopped. She’d seen lots of photos of Jay in fan magazines and on album covers over the past couple of years, but none of them did the least bit of justice to the flesh and blood man standing before her. His head was turned in profile as he said something to Nicky Majors, and Katie took the opportunity to gaze at him unimpeded.

Jay Carey had the face of an angel—a very naughty angel. The rounded cheeks, the chin with the slightest suggestion of a cleft and the long black hair that curled past his shoulders all gave him a look of innocence. Combined with his rather full lips, black brows and lashes, and the schoolboy smile he directed at Nicky, Katie would have sworn he had come right out of a Botticelli work of art. But when he focused those intense hazel eyes on her, she knew she’d been wrong. Nothing Botticelli ever did looked like that. Jay Carey didn’t have the eyes of an angel—he had the eyes of a god.

Crimson and Clover

Crimson Romance

Reviewer: Lisa

First, I would like to say, THANK GOD I AM NOT MARRIED TO A ROCK STAR...Ok, they aren't ALL that bad, but boy would I not have the balls to deal with their shit...excuse my language, but it's the truth!

Ok...now that I have said my piece, I will go on with my review of CRIMSON AND CLOVER, the new release from Juli Page Morgan.  What a GREAT story!  Juli not only takes you on a wild ride of Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll, but shares the truth behind the curtains.  To say that I am highly impressed with her knowledge doesn't even cut it.  She builds a world within CRIMSON AND CLOVER that was so clear that I swear I smelled the stench of weed pass by my nose a time or two.

For anyone that was a teen in the 70's, as my parents were, this book is not only like taking a walk into the past, but getting to know the real people behind the "band", the wives, the girlfriends, the groupies.  And for anyone who just wants to read a great romance about a girl who falls in love with a rock star...well...the story hasn't changed too much in forty years!!

Katie was a girl with self-confidence, and that was what I liked about her, but she was also naive when it came to certain aspects of the life she was living with Jay, her guitar playing rock-star boyfriend.  I truly felt for her, especially when she would try to convince herself that certain aspects of her relationship were "ok", when really you knew that deep down, she knew better.  It was sad at times, but that's what helped to make the story so real.

The sex was HOT! Juli does an amazing job at showing the pure chemistry that sparked whenever Katie and Jay so much as touched...I loved it!!  Jay...yeah I liked Jay...I didn't always like what he was doing, and my poor heart hurt for Katie, but in the end...true love stood the test...and that is all that matters.

Reading CRIMSON AND CLOVER was like watching a great movie about the seventies and what happens when everything falls apart...who is there to pick up the pieces.  Great Job Juli and I recommend this to All my Tasty Readers!!  Grab it, jump in and ROCK!

About Juli

After an exciting (and sometimes surreal!) career in radio broadcasting, Juli Page Morgan was left with a passion for rock ‘n roll and memories of the outrageous antics she'd seen and stories told to her by musicians and bands she’d interviewed over the years. Inspired by these tales, Juli wrote her first novel, CRIMSON AND CLOVER, a rocking romance set in London in 1968.

Juli lives in Arkansas with her husband and youngest daughter. When she’s not writing she's attempting to force updates on her sixty-year-old house (it fights back!) and trying to convince her husband the world won’t come to an end if the television is turned off.  She also listens to a lot of music at maximum volume and exceeds the speed limit when she drives. She’s currently at work on her second romance novel, and yes -- it rocks, too!
